the shooting of a police treen knee. >> tonight that man was in critical condition at shock trauma. as christian schaefer reports there is dispute over the details. >> chris is live in the news room with the late jest so far the only public xheptss we've gotten from verse came last night. a state police representative said that police training has been gone on at rosedale for years. if that'stycase, a woman that lives right next to grounds says it's news to her. >> after more than a century of treating patients with mental sdabts, the rose wood clinic has been closed. >> they said that the university was going to come in and basically come in and bring a campus here. we also were told they would have more housing condos in that area. >> instead.

>> this had didn't happen. >> then on tuesday, something did happen. some kind of police training on the grounds involving sources say roughly 50 trainees from different agencies and ended with the baltimore city instructor firing a live round and striking a trainee in the head. >> i was surprised it was used for that. . >> so why were police using the facility for training? they haven't said but at a news conference tuesday night a representative for the maryland state police said. >> that facility has been used fsh training purposes for many years. >> sharon lewis has lived next door since 1988 and she's never seen police head into or out o' the grounds you had no idea. >> none. from a safety point, we should have been aware that was going to take place.

>> also, no answer on the question of how a live round could have been fired during training. from the outside of rose wood we could not see any check in of police weapons. >> there's no acceptable explanation for why live rounds were at a training exercise. >> the state department of health and mental hygiene o' owns the hospital grounds. aspokesperson told the abc2 news investigators they p didn't know the department was aware that the police were using the facility. all training has been suspended indefinitely. >> and while there are many unanswered questions about training practices, we do know about the guns that are supposed to be used for training. briankuebler got a look at the weapons that should be used for training. >> this is is video from a

baltimore city police training exercise in 2009. abc2 newsverse were given exclusive access back then to document what the commissioner called diamond standard training. thatprogram no longer exists but many of the practices do like the use of what is called similar ewe in additions. sources tell us this blue handguns that can only shoot these types of paint bullets are the only firearm used in training. city police do use live ammunition but only in a single file range. in most any other type of training, these blue guns are used. this is how they were described to us in 2009. >> this is i a gun that is like a glok 17 which is a nine-

student behind an off campus murder suicide used to work for university police. they saydayvon green worked as a facility police. he was fired after being late twice. todaywe learned the surviving roommate is out of the hospital. he was shot in the leg. stevenrane died. . >> he spoke at our graduation a a award ceremony and gave him this award from the english department. just a really fine young man. >> green's family told police he had been suffering from mental illness for at least a year now. >> new video now of a deadly house fire out of charlestown. investigators say eight people were inside this house in

indian head when it caught fire. 7people made it out. 66 year old geraldine key did not. . >> kelly not only does the providence road fire department put your fire out, they help you out. listen to what they're doing, since putting out a fire down the street from their fire house, a family of 7 used to live there. 65 years they've learned it's after the fire that they're most needed. they areaccepting items at the fire house and they've set up a meal train so the family has dinner ever night. >> the family seems overwhelmed by that. for us, these are our neighbors so it's our way of continuing to give to our neighbors. many of our members li around here so it's not just a day at the office this is us protecting our own. >> what a job by the

firefightersment schools and churches all helping out these family but the volunteer firefighters are the greatest neighbors to have. >> if you're a teacher, some state lawmakers want to help you out. they want to give you a big ir tax break for school supplies you buy. the billwould allow teachers to write off as much as 5 hundred dollars for school supplies they buy out of their own pocket. right nowthey can get 250 dollars from the federal government but the state doesn't have such an offer. >> they make a sacrifice in the first place and with tight school budgets many teachers go into their own pocket to buy supplies. >> the price tag runs about 33 (3)300-0000 sdmrars one thing lawmakers are talking about is -- 33 $33.01 lawmakers are

trying to work on that. >> these beetles are potentially dangerous. theywere found newport a shipment of celery seed from india. thebugs are dead but they're one of the world's most destructive insectings. an outbreak could cost tens of millions of dollars. >> we're learning more about the shooting in lock urn. police say the victim is a 27 year old man shot walking on st. luke's lane. the man is expected to make it. and policesay this morning we had a stabbing tied to a robbery on the two hundred block of south avenue. the victim was stabbed you multiple times and is now in stable condition. >> well they're cabin burned to the ground with a suspected cop killer inside and tonight the woman who owned that cabin is speaking out.

the first thing i saw was our cabins there and i was in shock. >> they own 9-1-1 restoration, a company that leans up after fires and other disasters. justlast week he joked about a co-worker that dorner may end up at the cabins i said hey i may need your assistance because this guy is running loose around my mom's cabins. >> he says no one on his from his family has been able to return to the cabins. judgingby the news media shots, he says it appears only the main cabin was damaged but the federally protected bildzing was insure ed and will be rebuilt. anemotional loss that he and his family are trying to keep in perspective. >> we lost a cabin, there's others that have lost loved

this stuff has cleared out, we're going don't see a clearing pattern as we go there the overnight but there could be the chance for icy hear areas. highs today, you have to remember this didn't accumulate on the ground because the highs were in the midto upper 40s. soas temperatures drops the ground temp still above freezing. youhave to remember in the context, it's only been another hour or two of at at or below freezing temperatures after a day of well above freezing. so we had rain at onset and then the snow level began to drop, but as the snow level dropped to the surface level and we had sunset, basically it ran out of precipitation. so the whole thing moved out of here when we got the conditions

that would allow accumulation. we willcontinue to see the last of this pushing further and further east as we move to day break. lookslike a sunny day tomorrow, breezy, temperatures should make the upper 40s so we'll melt whatever is out there toward the pennsylvania state line. andthen friday, it's partly cloudy and not so bad. cold air will wrap in toward daybreak tomorrow. have to watch out for the lightly slushed areas, secondary roads could be icy at daybreak. the storm will continue to clear out as we move tru the overnight and dhen we'll put our attention on the next storm and it appears to be similar in some respects. itwill come in after some mild weather. once again, looks luke a mild
